I have mixed feelings about Crossfit BPC. It has high ratings, so clearly it works for several people. It didn't work for me, however, so in the interest of helping other people out with a balanced review, here we go... What I did: I did Crossfit for about 3 months. I developed tendinitis in my right arm, though, because of which I stopped going. I wouldn't say I was super regular, but I must have done about 20 sessions in all. The pros: - You feel AMAZING after a workout. You really do feel like you've conquered something massive. But then, that's endorphins. - It's a really nice box. Spacious, good equipment - all in good shape, feels very international, all of it. And unlike some other Boxes, they keep the AC on during the Crossfit. I personally loved TRX. - Instructors know their stuff, and are usually quite friendly and happy to help out, even if they take a Hulk avatar during the actual Crossfit itself. - The post-workout bathrooms are quite nice. - Superb location (of course, if you stay in Goregaon West - there are hardly any good gyms around) Cons: - There is debate about whether Crossfit itself is good for you. Too much intensity, thrown into deep end right away and you end up lifting lots with poor form (which is why I developed tendinitis). While instructors are good, they do not micro-manage each lifter, which is worrying, when you're trying to yank up 50kg or so. This should be your major consideration before joining any sort of Crossfit - try for a month and see. It's either for you, or it isn't, regardless of Box (they're all this way). You have instructors screaming at you (er, motivating?) which might work for some, but not for me. Again, standard across Boxes - apparently this yelling is supposed to push you. - Specific to this box, they do this ridiculous thing of asking you to get a 'diet book' and make you do burpees if you dare put in anything that violates their diet. Well, fair enough, but I should have the freedom to determine whether I want this amount of parenting or not. It's a massive put off before even going to the Box. - Poor customer care. I wrote to them to freeze my account for a month while I recovered, but never heard back from them. Even wrote to the owner, who asked me to mail, which I did - didn't hear back from them. Finally, I just let the whole thing go - I couldn't be bothered anymore, really. - And - like all Crossfit - is pretty expensive. We were a little pissed when an offer for 'new joiners' was not applicable for renewals, despite it being sent to existing customers. - Lastly, horrible music! Overall - it's a very decent place to go to - and with all my silly cons like music / diet book aside - your major consideration should be "Should I do Crossfit at all". Read up about that, educate yourself, understand the risks and if you do decide to go ahead, this is a great place to try it. As for me, I'll just be at a regular ol' gym :)
